Installing the PreViser RiskCalculator™

Follow the instructions below to successfully install the PreViser software on your computer. A concise, step-by-step version of these instructions are also posted on the PreViser Support Center in the Getting Started section, as the "Installation Guide."

Note: You will not have to shut down and restart your computer as part of the installation process. However, you should have other applications closed. In certain operating systems, you can install or uninstall programs only if you have administrative privileges on your computer. For more information, see Running PreViser. For information on how to make configuration changes so you can run the RiskCalculator™ on a network (multiple computers sharing the same data file), please refer to the information posted on the PreViser Support Center.

1. You may download the setup files and install the RiskCalculator™ software for free from PreViser's website at www.previser.com.

This process will only take a couple of minutes with a high-speed Internet connection, but if you are on a dial-up connection, it could take from 15 minutes to an hour, so we would suggest you request the installation files on CD-ROM instead. If you would prefer to receive a CD-ROM to avoid the dial-up time, please contact PreViser Support by email at support@previser.com or phone at 360-661-5763 and we will send it out to you.

You can choose to Save or Open the installation file, called setup.exe. If you SAVE it, you will have to double click on the saved file to install the software. If you OPEN it, the software will be installed automatically. We recommend you Save it then run the setup after the file is downloaded.

2. Choose the appropriate options in the installer, clicking Next to proceed through each step of the Install wizard. You will select a location for the application, (typically on your C drive in the folder Program Files).

3. You will be asked to read through the End-User License Agreement, and indicate whether you AGREE or DISAGREE with these terms of use. If you DISAGREE, the installation will terminate.

4. Choose the appropriate options in the installer, clicking Next to proceed through each step of the Install wizard. 5. When you have clicked Finish, the application will be successfully installed on your computer, in a folder called PreViserRC.
After the application is successfully installed, an icon will appear on your desktop, as shown below. You can use this shortcut to access the application at your convenience. (See Accessing the Application for instructions).

In order to start using the application, you will need to enter some information on the setup screen you see when you open it for the first time. Please refer to the Setup Instructions in this Getting Started section.

Warning:

In the application folder PreViserRC, there is a file named Unwise.exe. If you run that file, you will uninstall the entire PreViser RiskCalculator™ application.

This should be avoided unless you are authorized to do so and are aware of the consequences of this action. Don't worry, there is no chance that you will "accidentally" run this file in any normal use of the RiskCalculator™ application.
